Youth advocate prepares to make Black History Month debut

NEW ORLEANS — Author and student leader advocate Reginald Webb will make his debut appearance as one of 14 featured authors at the 10th Annual Black History Month Literary Weekend, Feb. 19-21, in New Orleans.

Originally from Baltimore and now based in California, Webb is the creator of The TrailBlazer Project, a platform supporting culturally grounded storytelling and learning. A Coppin State University graduate, his work centers on young readers—especially young boys—through stories that encourage confidence, character, and critical thinking.

“A lot of my work comes from what students told me they needed,” Webb said. “But I’m excited about New Orleans because this weekend lets me reach families, educators, and community leaders all at once — and really expand the impact.”

Webb will spotlight several titles across literacy, history, and youth empowerment, including Signs & Letters, Math & Money Adventure, The TrailBlazer Project, and The First Black Quarterbacks. He is also preparing for the release of two new books: Lil Reggie Comes to New Orleans and A Juneteenth Dinner Discussion, which is also being developed into a multimedia experience. Additionally, Webb will promote The Lesson Plan Part 1, a music project that complements his broader creative mission.

BHMLW is a weekend of music, comedy, and books, solely focused on fostering literacy while celebrating African-American authors and businesses. Since its inception in New Orleans in 2017, the event has promoted more than 100 authors, impacted thousands of students, and contributed more than $6,000 in scholarships, awards, and book donations.
